Overview of the Position
We seek a skilled and experienced technician to join the Division of Dentistry to help support an existing member of academic staff.
The position will be part of an established Divisional team and will work closely with one of the current senior academic staff members.
The primary focus of the role will be to help provide technical assistance and support, with minimal supervision, in the Biomaterials laboratory within Coupland III Building. Help may also be needed in other University laboratories that are directly related to the member of staff. The role will assist team members in ensuring that staff and students operate safe working practices ensuring health and safety compliance within the laboratories.
The work performed in the facility is varied and the role holder will be expected to help the senior academic member of staff with laboratory duties which may include help with multiple laboratory projects and instruction and support for numerous post-graduate students.
The role holder should ideally have experience in biomaterials research and have a significant level of experience in multiple techniques and data analysis.
The role holder will work closely with facility staff, learn new techniques they are not familiar with, and work closely with facility users including all levels of academic research staff within the University of Manchester.
The role is for an initial period of 6 months with a view to it being extended further depending on the support required at that time.
