Do you have experience working in a busy workshop? Are you experienced in woodwork machinery? Do you want to work in fast-paced environment?
We are looking for Scenic Carpenter (Grade 3) to join our scenic workshops, where you will work with the scenic carpentry team and other departments, to produce scenery using a wide range of techniques and construction methods.
Reporting to Head of Scenic Carpentry, key areas of responsibility include (please see the full job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):
* To have a specialist knowledge to select appropriate techniques and be able to work at speed.
* To produce items of scenery as necessary using a variety of skilled techniques.
* To produce samples and rehearsal items, as required by the Head of Scenic Carpentry and Workshop Manager.
* Develop a good working relationship with production managers and creative teams.
* A working knowledge and understanding of job-related Health and Safety policies and procedures and their implications within the workshop environment.
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following knowledge and experience:
* Significant experience at a similar professional level.
* Excellent skills in the following Carpentry related disciplines:
o Reading of and interpretation of drawings
o Use of measuring, marking and scaling tools.
o Advanced construction techniques using a variety of materials.
o Advanced geometry and trigonometry
o Use of woodworking machinery including but not limited to: wall saw, CNC machine, mortice and tenon, planner, handheld power tools and abrasive wheels.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months, based in our scenic workshops in Stratford upon Avon.
You will be working an average of 44 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including weekend and evening work during busy periods.
