This is a dual role with both youth and adult corrections. The youth worker role is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of Community Alternatives for Youth Programs focusing on Community Reintegration supporting Extra-judicial Sanctions and Direct Counselling in Perth County. The adult worker role is responsible for community correctional programming.
Minimum Requirements:
* Completed two (2) or more years of Community College, i.e. Youth Worker Diploma, Social Services Diploma or equivalent diploma is required.
* An Undergraduate Degree in Social Work.
* Valid First Aid/CPR Certification.
* Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
* Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required with $2 million in liability insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
* Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Knowledge:
* Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience, preference in community programs working with adult and youth at risk.
* Minimum of two (2) years prior related experience in working with Youth at risk.
* Working knowledge of the area and community resources of Perth and Huron Counties.
* Knowledge and experience in restorative justice practices.

* Participate in mandatory orientation training, on-going professional development and training.
* Participate in regular supervision and performance appraisal processes.
* Proficient in working in a computerized environment; must demonstrate strong skills using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Power Point.
* Ability to adhere to The Salvation Army Standards of Conduct and Code of Ethics.
* Represent the organization in a positive, professional and engaging manner.
* Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures and associated legislation.
* Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
* Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
* Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
* Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
