In a nutshell
The AOG (Aircraft On Ground) Material Operations Planning function provides a 24 hour, 365-day materials operational support for the entire Virgin Atlantic Fleet worldwide, optimising spares support to minimise the number of aircraft delays, deferred defects to meet the agreed service levels and maximise overall cost efficiency.
Day to day
This is a highly varied role, where you will undertake a number of key duties and responsibilities, including, but not restricted to:
* AOG Desk Support – Working in a team that provides 24/7, 365 day materials operational support for the entire Virgin Atlantic Fleet, worldwide. Initiate AOG procedures with regards to spares to recover an AOG situation/minimise the delay to VAA Aircraft worldwide in the most cost effective way.
* Inventory Management - Daily review of spares that require replenishment after re-order levels have been analysed and authorise for procurement.
* Planned Maintenance - Ensure all material and tooling requirements for VAA planned maintenance requirements have been supplied to the agreed time scales. Advise delivery schedule of material and tooling shortages for planned maintenance to maintenance Planning and Production, and update them on a regular basis.
About you
Are you a materials planner with experience of working in an AOG environment with strong commercial acumen and excellent communication skills? If so, we think you would love this role! We seek people with the following skills and experience:
* Knowledge of sources of supply for the commodities handled by the department.
* Must be able to demonstrate excellent negotiating skills and organisational ability.
* Good working knowledge of CAA publications, Suppliers procedures, spec 2000 and the ability to understand Manufactures IPC documents and technical drawings is preferred.
* Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work well on their own initiative.
* Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
* Hold an IPS qualification or the ability to obtain an equivalent qualification whilst in the position is preferred.
