We are really excited to be able to offer an NMC or HCPC registrant the opportunity to work within our education team to deliver training and provide clinical and pastoral support for our internationally educated staff.
This fantastic opportunity to join our practice education team will primarily involve:
* Assisting in the Education, Learning and Development function within Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
* Coordinating staff development both in the classroom and in clinical practice.
* Working with senior members of the team to co-ordinate and facilitate study days, competencies and teaching to enhance the capacity and capability of recruits in partnership with key stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
* Develop, facilitate and contribute to the delivery of an overseas educational program and monitor its effectiveness through impact evaluations and audit.
* Work collaboratively with universities, trust staff, professional bodies and other Dorset NHS organisations to implement a clear process for the initial and ongoing development of all overseas recruits.
* Work with the Lead Practice Educators and assist in contributing to the development, organisation and governance of practice learning for all learners within DCHFT.
* Work with the Lead Practice Educators in partnership with education providers in ensuring that development plans are implemented as appropriate.
* Undertake duties as agreed within designated work streams following the direction of the Lead Practice Educator, Divisional Heads of Nursing and Quality and Head of Education, Learning and Development.
* Network locally, regionally and nationally with peer groups to support the sharing of best practice regarding overseas development programs.
* Act as a resource for inter-professional learning.
* Help to establish and facilitate effective communication and consultation networks with staff, supporting learning in practice across the trust, professions and partner organisations.
* Attend local, regional and national partnership, professional meetings and networks as appropriate and when directed.

Job responsibilities
* Act as a key stakeholder and contributor to the overseas working group, providing regular updates on the educational development and completion of key milestones for all overseas recruits.
* Work in collaboration with the Head of Resourcing, Heads of Nursing and Quality and where appropriate Clinical Practice Educators to ensure that all clinical areas are provided with clear communication and information regarding the overseas recruits they will be supporting.
* Facilitate and deliver the overseas competency development framework.
* Lead on the development of overseas nurses pre and post completion of the NMC registration process.
* Provide access to clinical supervision for all overseas recruits.
* Provide advice and support on a regular basis to clinical staff regarding completion of clinical competencies for overseas recruits.
* Provide ward / departmental based additional educational support and supervision for overseas recruits who are not meeting core objectives.
* Work in partnership with the wider education team to improve and develop policies and processes that support practice learning of overseas recruits.
* Work in collaboration with departmental / ward managers in ensuring that overseas recruits are fit for purpose through ongoing liaison, regular reviews and completion of competency frameworks.
* Assist in providing timely and accurate reports to internal and external key stakeholders.
* Deliver and facilitate training to mentors of overseas recruits.
* Assist in the dissemination of practice-based learning information (national, regional and local) through face-to-face meetings and electronic methods including developing and maintaining the trust intranet site for overseas recruits.
* Work with the Lead Practice Educators in supporting the Trust in meeting its responsibilities in the development of all staff in line with national and local recommendations.
* Assist in the production of reports for the operational education committee and divisional teams to monitor compliance and completion of intended learning outcomes for overseas recruits.
* Undertake impact evaluations of all educational activity undertaken by overseas recruits.
* Promote best practice and help develop systems to ensure that all overseas recruits have a consistent and equitable experience.
Person Specification
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential
* Educated to degree level
* Up to date professional registration of a recognised body in healthcare
* Demonstrable experience of teaching, supervising and assessing learners.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Practice Assessor course or equivalent
Desirable
* Significant post-qualification clinical experience at a band 5/6 level.
* Recognised teaching qualification
