I love data but I love selling, isn't something you often hear. At least not from the people that say you have to be introverted to love data, and extroverted to love sales. Loving data and selling myself I know this not to be true, though most roles in the market don't tend to focus on both areas.
If like me you buck the trend, enjoy finding opportunities in data, and would love nothing more than using that data to sell products/ranges into retail buyers, then you're reading the right advert.
We're seeking a candidate comfortable in using data from Nielsen/Kantar/Gfk and presenting into retail to take a sales-focused category role for a leading brand with a wide retailer base. The role would require 2 days on average either at the office near Huntingdon or out on the road with retailers, and we're open to candidates from category, brand or national account roles, but you have to be prepared to travel across the UK and spend regular time in the office.
Key Requirements:
* Ability to analyse/interpret a broad range of both ad hoc and continuous data sources (Nielsen, Kantar, GfK, dunnhumby) and most importantly, pull out key insights to provide tangible recommendations that add value to our business and meet retailer requirements.
* Will proactively develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders - become the go-to for advice/guidance/support with category range reviews.
* Going to champion the customer internally and work with internal teams to get the right range and activation in store to grow our share and presence in store.
* A confident presenter who can create and deliver compelling stories to retailers to increase distribution of our core range and gain listings on new products.
* Willing to get stuck into the detail and able to develop our reporting capabilities across key performance indicators like EPOS performance, distribution of key lines, rate of sale, competitor activity and price/promotional analysis.
Applicant Profile:
* Knowledge and experience within the FMCG, General Merchandise or Retail sectors.
* Knowledge and experience of category management or retail commercial management such as operations or buying.
* Advanced Excel required with intermediate to advanced PowerPoint skills also beneficial.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills to recognise performance indicators and present findings with action recommendations.
