Birmingham City Football Club is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to support the health and safety (H&S) requirements across all departments by implementing effective policies, processes, and systems. Key Responsibilities: Compile and review H&S documentation such as risk assessments, safe systems of work, and COSHH reports Act as the primary point of contact for H&S-related queries from employees, visitors, and contractors Utilize H&S data (e.g., accident reports, RIDDOR) to generate reports aimed at creating a safer environment for all stakeholders Collaborate with the HR department to address the H&S training needs of employees and volunteers Stay informed on the latest H&S legislation and ensure compliance with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines relevant to the club Perform tasks like data collection, risk identification, site inspections, attending H&S meetings, and conducting fire drills Keep the Safety Officer updated on the implementation of the Club Spectator Safety Policy and recommend necessary amendments Oversee the application of the club’s H&S policies during events, ensuring the safety of employees and stakeholders Work closely with the Head Chef and food & beverage partners to maintain top-tier food hygiene standards Conduct regular site inspections to ensure proper adherence to H&S policies Record and analyse incidents to help mitigate risks Ensure vehicle compliance with necessary certifications such as tax and MOT Lead health and safety audits, including the Safe to Operate audits for boys' and girls' academies Perform additional duties as assigned by the Board of Directors, Leadership Team, or Heads of Department Role Responsibilities: Foster a strong culture of health and safety across the club Leverage extensive knowledge of H&S legislation to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement Develop measurement systems to accurately track H&S performance Liaise with employees, subcontractors, and suppliers on H&S matters Identify potential operational risks and work with teams to provide effective responses Help develop communication strategies to ensure the H&S plan is well understood by all employees and subcontractors Work with all departments to implement the organization’s H&S strategy Introduce innovative thinking while upholding exceptional H&S standards Communicate positive H&S performance to internal and external stakeholders Conduct training, toolbox talks, inductions, and incident investigations as necessary Support HR in addressing occupational health concerns and conducting pregnancy risk assessments Review and provide guidance on risk assessments and method statements Conduct site audits and inspections, reporting areas for improvement Ensure compliance with policies outlined in the Staff Handbook, with particular focus on Safeguarding and H&S Promote equality, diversity, and an inclusive culture within the workplace What we're looking for in you: Qualifications: Essential: NEBOSH or equivalent H&S qualification IOSH (Managing Safely) Experience: Essential: Knowledge of H&S procedures Experience in conducting H&S assessments and audits Current, relevant experience in Health & Safety Desirable: Experience in the football industry Experience managing H&S at a stadium Knowledge and Skills: Essential: Understanding of data protection legislation and H&S systems (risk assessments, COSHH, etc.) Ability to work both independently and within a team Basic IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office Terms of Appointment: 37.5 hours per week 20 days of annual leave, increasing by 1 day per year of service (up to 25 days), plus 8 statutory holidays 6-month probation period Birmingham City FC is an equal opportunities and Disability Confident employer, welcoming applications from all sectors of the community.
