We are seeking a resourceful and organised Senior Communications Officer to join our Communications team. Working with Birmingham City University’s Staff Communications Manager and the Student and Graduate Communications Manager, this role will be central to delivering informative and compelling communications for staff and students. On the staff communications side, the successful candidate will help share and promote organisational developments and employee successes. They will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative solutions for two-way engagement with the Vice Chancellor’s Office. And they will oversee the work of communications officers and assistants. For student communications, you’ll need to be creative across a range of channels, providing content that is engaging and of high quality. Your content will inform students about what’s happening on campus, and of opportunities both within and outside of the classroom. Your role will need you to: Deliver effective communications on a daily basis Support regular communications to staff and students, including events, the daily Tiger Today newsletter, and regular targeted emails to students Deliver targeted campaigns to students, raising awareness of what’s happening across campus and of extracurricular opportunities too Deputise for the Staff Communications Manager Be the staff communications team’s lead representative on selected institutional projects Horizon-scan on behalf of the Staff Communications Manager and Student and Graduate Communications Manager, flagging concerns when appropriate Identify opportunities from media relations, internal communications and alumni relations work to develop profile-raising events that engage and build audiences for the University.
