Shell is looking for a dedicated and highly-driven graduate petroleum engineer to join our UK Upstream Development and Subsurface team based in Aberdeen, UK. As Graduate Petroleum Engineer, you will be involved in the planning and delivery of safe and efficient wells, maximizing value through Well Reservoir Facilities Management (WRFM). You will be interacting with other departments and internal stakeholders such as Integrated Gas & Upstream and regional operating units. You will need to be a self-driven deliverer, with a solid subsea engineer skills and technical background. You must also really enjoy working with people and helping teams to deliver. This requires you, in addition to delivering your own technical contributions, to work closely with the Project Leaders and the Technical Leads, as well as hands-on with the team members. Your work will be used to support project decisions and transfer the information to the customer. You are expected to prepare the work for peer reviews, review technical information in data rooms, contribute to opportunity framing workshops. You are expected to have an external view and be well-aware of latest technological developments. As many projects have both limited data and a short delivery time, ability to high level benchmark opportunities, to place them in a right context is important. You will be expected to take on an active role in the sharing of best practices and you are expected to contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives. As you will often work in a small team you are required to be able to work independent with limited direct steer. The ability to quickly build networks and perform quick quality/sense checks with peers will help you to provide fit for purpose solutions. WHO ARE YOU
* You have a bachelor's or master's degree in Petroleum Engineering
* Visibly demonstrate personal and company HSE commitment and drive towards technical excellence
* Ability to work with a high level of uncertainty in data and be able to map out a credible path forward in case of limited and/or ambiguous data
* Work to a high level of technical competence, often under time pressure
* Being able to clearly underpin and support choices and decisions made in technical work
* Application of the Decision Quality framework to support milestone decisions
* Experience in production and/or development projects is a plus
* Ability to evaluate key risk and their impact on decisions and provide the relevant underlying technical justification.
* Strong team player with corresponding inter-personal skills. Coaching in the team is available, though ability to work with limited steer is required
