Department of Critical Care is calling all Registered Nursing Associates!
We invite enthusiastic and proactive Registered Nursing Associates to join our Critical Care team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a friendly and supportive team of critical care nurses who will help you develop and thrive in this challenging and rewarding specialty. Successful applicants will benefit from a workplace that prioritises training and education, including an initial 8-week supernumerary period, induction study days, and clinical mentorship within the National Competency Framework for Registered Nursing Associates.
The role requires working across two hospital sites: Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals.
Main duties of the job
The Critical Care Nursing Associate will be responsible for contributing to the care of critically ill patients under the indirect supervision of registered nurses. Your main duties will include:
1. Providing high-quality nursing care to patients admitted to critical care and offering support to their loved ones.
2. Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to provide continuous care to a specific group of patients from admission to discharge.
3. Supervising and mentoring other staff members and learners as appropriate.
4. Maintaining and developing your personal skills with ongoing support.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Provision of compassionate, safe and effective care and support to patients in the critical care setting.
* Monitor the condition and health needs of patients on a continual basis, ensuring appropriate escalation to a registered nurse.
* Provide effective evidence-based care under the supervision of registered nurses.
* Recognise the effects of medicines, allergies, drug sensitivity, and adverse reactions.
* Support, supervise, teach (where appropriate) and act as a role model to trainee nursing associates and student nurses.
Person specification
* Active Nursing Associate registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Able to competently and safely administer medication.
* Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate.
* Able to prioritise own workload and that of others.
* Completion of the Care Certificate.
* Post Registration Experience working as a Registered Nursing Associate.
