Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services)
Site location: Nottingham
Responsible to: Project Director
Purpose of the role: As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll help breathe life into our clients' designs by creating mechanical design models and drawings. You’ll have the autonomy to design mechanical services in many sectors of the industry and will be client-facing, representing our client at all levels. You’ll also get to collaborate with architects, quantity surveyors, project managers, and structural engineers from external design teams.
Client brief: Our client is a well-established leading engineering and environmental consultancy in Building Services with offices throughout the UK and around the globe. Their welcoming and diverse team is working on some of the most prestigious and innovative projects in the UK and across the world. From sustainability-focused offices and commercial premises to cutting-edge healthcare facilities and from award-winning retail developments to major new residential communities, you’ll have the opportunity to play a major role in delivering schemes across a huge range of sectors.
KEY INFORMATION
Reason for vacancy: Continued growth
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Holidays: 26 days + Bank Holidays rising to 31 days with loyalty days + BH
Hybrid: Yes, Possible hybrid working of 3 days in the office – 2 days at home

Qualifications, experience or skills:
1. Have a relevant degree or equivalent for a career in building services engineering
2. Fluency in design software tools such as REVIT and ideally exposure to MagiCAD
3. A great communicator who can adapt to working with external parties and clients while gelling with our growing team
4. A deep understanding of project needs and the ability to manage their full delivery
5. Recognised qualifications in mechanical services design and either working towards chartered status or have an interest in doing so
6. Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team to support the delivery of projects
7. Experience of managing people would be an advantage
8. Willingness to be flexible - We take a collaborative approach to delivering our projects and you’ll be happy travelling and working with colleagues from across Waterman
