The job is a 10 PAs a week, working alongside the multidisciplinary team, including SAS doctors, resident doctors, and wider clinical teams. You will be the clinical expert from a medical perspective to ensure best practice care is delivered and support the team.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide Consultant clinical leadership to the service and will assume consultant psychiatrist responsibility for their proportion of patients being looked after by the team. This includes assuming Responsible Clinician status for patients under their care, participating in the assessment of patients referred to the service, and drawing up care plans.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Memory Protection Service opened in 2012, providing early access to high-quality assessment & initial treatment for cognitive complaints indicative of neurodegenerative dementia. The service has recently been reaccredited by Memory Services national Accreditation Programme (MSNAP).
Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the point of interview. Candidates should be suitably qualified, including eligibility for Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.
Minimum Requirements
* Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT
* Approved under Section12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
* Approved Clinician Status
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
* Training in educational supervision
* Training in appraisal
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge in the field of Psychiatry
* Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy, and legislation
Experience
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working
* Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry
* Experience of Clinical Audit
* Experience in service management or development
Skills
* High level of clinical skills
* Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders
* Excellent teaching skills
