Job summary
We are looking to appoint to three whole-time Consultant Neurologists Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and providing an outpatient outreach service to District General Hospitals including Chesterfield Royal Hospital (CRH), Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BDGH) and Doncaster Royal Infirmary (DRI). Successful applicants will have the opportunity based on ranking to agree an appropriate District General Hospital (DGH).
We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job
Appointments are made to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the person appointed is required to be sufficiently flexible to undertake their main clinical duties at any of the sites within the Region and/or to change their base hospital.
The appointee, together with consultant colleagues, will be responsible for the provision of adult neurological services to DRI/CRH/BDGH and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the routine outpatient general neurological workload at DRI/CRH/BDGH, provide a ward liaison service at DGH, as well as general and sub-specialty clinics in Sheffield.
The person appointed will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence. They will have continuing responsibility for patients in their care and the proper functioning of the Department.
In line with the directorate's policy to support research there are opportunities for appointees with the appropriate research interest and expertise to apply to the Academic Research Directorate for up to 1 research SPA depending on their research aspirations and if supported by the appropriate research theme lead.
