Hybrid Working
We have a Hybrid approach to working here at Starling - our preference is that you're located within a commutable distance of one of our offices so that we're able to interact and collaborate in person. The expectation for this role is 2-3 days in the office.
About the role
Here at Starling we are growing, and our first line information technology & security risk team is looking for someone passionate about making a difference with a drive for managing risk events and incidents to prevent disruption to our services.
As a member of our first line risk team, you will be responsible for executing day to day activities ensuring the continued operational resilience and preparedness of the organisation working collaboratively with all stakeholders including second and third line to prevent, respond, recover and learn from operational disruption events.
You will work on a variety of issues including:
1. Actively support the management of the Bank’s technical resilience and continuity arrangements
2. Creating, maintaining, and updating the Bank’s continuity and recovery documentation
3. Working across the Technology teams to ensure that resilience, continuity, and recovery activities are completed.
Key Responsibilities
4. Ensure that the Bank’s regulatory obligations are well understood and that any changes are communicated in a timely manner
5. Work with stakeholders to ensure that business impact and risk assessments are performed
6. Maintain the Bank’s continuity and recovery documentation
7. Produce accurate and timely reports regarding the Bank’s resilience, continuity, and recovery arrangements
8. Manage the Bank’s testing strategy and ensure that tests are performed, recorded, and that lessons learned are implemented
9. Engage with the Third Party Risk Management and Vendor Management teams to obtain sufficient assurance about the continuity and resilience arrangements of our vendors
10. Contribute to and participate in the continued development of our operational resilience, business continuity, and disaster recovery management systems
11. Support continual improvement activities within the team.
Requirements
You will need to…
12. A comprehensive understanding of operational resilience, business continuity, and disaster recovery standards and best practice
13. Have a strong analytic ability to look at complex business processes, identify opportunities for and, where appropriate, recommended business process improvements
14. Have a pragmatic approach and be able to work collaboratively in a technology driven environment to develop proportionate response plans
15. Develop and maintain an understanding of the operational regulatory environment
16. Take responsibility and do the right thing for customers, colleagues and partners.
We are looking for individuals with experience across one or more of these areas. It is not expected that you will have worked in all of these.
The following skills and experience are desirable:
17. Experience working within financial services or business continuity management. Alternatively, experience in business operations teams or wider risk management.
18. Experience of working with industry recognised standards and frameworks such as ISO and NIST
19. Experience of information technology systems and processes including cloud.
20. Experience working with key stakeholders, developing working relationships and providing insightful management reporting / information.
21. Good attention to detail plus analysis and presentation skills
22. Flexibility in your approach to meeting goals as part of the wider team.
23. An innovative mindset and general interest in information technology, automation, and development (including coding).
