Job Description:
As a General Science Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching a broad range of science topics to students of various ages and abilities. You will design and deliver engaging lessons that promote scientific inquiry, encourage problem-solving, and foster a deep understanding of scientific principles. You will also assess and track student progress, providing support and feedback to help them reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality science lessons in biology, chemistry, and physics across key stages.
2. Inspire and motivate students to develop an interest in science and build their knowledge in each discipline.
3. Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that encourage curiosity and critical thinking.
4. Differentiate lessons to meet the diverse needs of students and provide additional support where required.
5. Use assessments to monitor student progress and provide feedback that promotes further learning and development.
6. Foster a safe and positive learning environment, ensuring students understand the importance of health and safety in science experiments.
7. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall science curriculum and share best practices.
8. Participate in departmental meetings, parents' evenings, and school-wide events as required.
Skills and Experience:
1. A genuine passion for science and the ability to engage students with the subject.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students, colleagues, and parents.
3. Experience in delivering science lessons across key stages (desirable).
4. Strong classroom management skills, ensuring an effective and safe learning environment.
5. Ability to create interactive and stimulating lessons that cater to different learning styles.
6. Knowledge of the national curriculum and science assessment requirements.
7. A proactive attitude and a commitment to student success.
Qualifications:
1. A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
2. A degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field).
3. Experience teaching science at secondary level is desirable but not essential.
4. An understanding of GCSE and A-Level science curricula is beneficial.
