We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT). This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team which provides an alternative to inpatient admission and Occupational Therapy within the community.
The post is 37.5 hours per week (8.30am -4.30pm). However, you may be required to work flexibly.
The post holder will be required to carry out specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions to inform the overall assessment and recovery plan of service users. The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team of nursing, medical staff, social workers and a peer mentor. The role will also involve working closely with the acute ward Occupational Therapy team, providing in-reach and supporting individuals to make meaningful community connections during leave and discharge from the ward. The post holder will work under the direction of the Professional Lead Occupational Therapist for the borough and CRHTT team lead.
The post is also part of a wider network and professional structure of occupational therapists across the mental health and learning disabilities division with regular practice forums and workshop opportunities to drive occupational therapy development in inpatient, community and specialist settings.
Main duties of the job
1. Carry out specialist occupational therapy assessments, including in home and community settings.
2. Carry out and interpret formal standardised assessments.
3. Independently plan, implement, evaluate and review treatment plans on an individual and group basis.
4. Actively engage carers/families in the therapeutic process, motivating and supporting them to take responsibility for decision making and goal setting.
5. Work autonomously to manage and prioritise own caseload.
6. Carry out the role of supervisor to support staff and educator to practice placement students.
7. Collaborate with others to modify and develop the service in line with changing circumstances and needs.
8. Function in a multi-disciplinary team identifying unique skills of the occupational therapist.
9. Maintain and actively develop close working relationships with colleagues across disciplines and agencies e.g. voluntary, statutory and private.
10. Assess and manage risk. Carry out written risk assessments.
11. Attend the acute ward MDT daily.
12. Undertake generic duties to enable the service to function effectively such as crisis assessments.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
