* Salary up to £32,000, depending on experience.
* Fixed term contract until 31/08/2025 with possibility to extend for another 12 months.
* 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with a possibility of occasion evening and weekend work.

Your Role as a Painter and Decorator
As a Painter and Decorator, you will be responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of the interior and exterior spaces at HMP Peterborough. You’ll deliver a wide range of tasks including painting, wallpapering, and aesthetic improvements as part of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works. Your role will also involve working on minor alteration and fabrication (MAF) projects across the prison estate.
You’ll manage work orders via our helpdesk system, ensuring jobs are completed efficiently and to the highest standard. Communicating with internal and external stakeholders is key, as you’ll need to liaise with clients, colleagues, and engineers to coordinate and deliver works that meet our safety and quality expectations.
This is a hands-on role in a secure environment, and you’ll be trusted with delivering a consistent and professional level of service while adhering to all health and safety standards. Your contribution will directly support the daily operations and improvement of the prison facilities.
The Ideal Candidate
* Painting and decorating experience with NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent.
* Experience in the building services industry.
* PASWA, IPAF or relevant licences and training.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good awareness of health and safety standards.
* Experience working within a prison or secure facility environment.
* Knowledge of MAF and PPM processes.
