Bids and Tenders Commercial Specialist - Chorley - £45-£50k per annum - Permanent - Full time
This role is hybrid working Monday to Thursday in the office and Friday working from home. A full benefits package will be discussed at the successful application stage.
Job Purpose:
You will work to help meet organic growth plans, supporting all commercial requirements relating to framework tenders. In addition, you will support the successful integration of new business acquisitions. As each integration completes, you will take learnings to support the development of a fit-for-purpose, streamlined, and standard process for all future acquisitions. Our client is looking to improve and standardise commercial processes and policies across the organisation, and you will also participate in a range of new, innovative, and continuous improvement projects.
Principal Accountabilities:
Tendering
1. Support each new framework opportunity through to bid submission, contributing to the development of a best-in-class model to streamline and increase the success of future bid submissions.
2. Review new bids and framework tenders, summarising the commercial opportunity and building recommendations on whether to progress.
3. Collaborate with relevant internal teams and external stakeholders to build the correct assumptions and relevant costings as individual bids evolve through to final submission.
4. Review framework terms and conditions, ensuring alignment to governance expectations, highlighting any commercial risk and ensuring mitigation as part of the overall bid response.
5. Assist with the continuous review of job rates, ensuring consistency across the business, comprehensiveness, and alignment with market expectations.
6. Prepare the commercial review submission presentation, ensuring it remains simple and concise to effectively support the final submission decision.
7. Perform retrospective bid analysis for both successful and unsuccessful bids, summarising areas for improvement and building purposeful change into the company bid model.
8. Assist in the handover of tender information to the relevant commercial representative for successful ongoing works management.
9. Compile and analyse financial reports highlighting discrepancies vs. bid assumptions and project profitability.
Projects & Policies
1. Collaborate with colleagues across the business, providing sound commercial input and analysis to help translate this into project success and positive change.
2. Manage commercial policy compliance reporting and the annual review cycle.
3. Develop and manage the contract register and bid refresh readiness.
4. Ensure systems integration, alignment, and development to meet future demands.
5. Ensure commercial alignment and compliance during new business integrations.
6. Report on project performance.
Knowledge & Experience:
1. Demonstrable commercial and analytical experience.
2. Experience of working within a fast-paced, multi-divisional organisation.
3. Very strong Excel modelling capabilities are essential.
4. Evidence of working on end-to-end projects through to completion.
5. Up-to-date knowledge of contractual law and commercial tendering practice would be highly advantageous.
