Serco’s Environmental Services provide a complete waste and recycling service on behalf of the residents and community in Lambeth. With a professional, dedicated, and friendly team of Refuse, Recycling and Street Cleansing staff, we ensure that streets, homes and businesses are kept clean, safe and tidy, whilst providing the very best levels of customer service to all members of the community that we serve.
We are currently looking for an Education, Communication & Outreach Manager to join our team at Lambeth. You will manage a team of three Education, Communication and Outreach Officers while also serving as a senior figure on the Contract Team.
Your main responsibilities
- Bringing the Annual Communications Plan to life, managing the timely delivery of communications and behaviour change campaigns across multiple channels on behalf of the local Authority partner.
- Developing and maintaining a network of relationships with a range of stakeholders that enable the successful creation and delivery of bespoke communication strategies for both external and internal use.
- Leading client meetings on Strategic Activities and guarantying quality of reports and presentations submitted to the client.
- Driving the successful delivery of the many Social Value initiatives we’ve launched in Lambeth. Working in collaboration with our Volunteer & Community Sector partners to strengthen local circular economies and support the most vulnerable residents in the borough.
- Developing relationships with new third sector originations and businesses to provide innovative environmentally focused community engagement initiatives.
- Act as a main point of for senior members of the client team – regularly delivering thorough presentations on monthly and annual contract performance.
- Supporting the Senior Contract Manager in planning and executing strategies/activities needed to hit contractual targets.
- Organise outreach events, delivering presentations to community groups and designing educational materials for schools.
What you will need to do the role
- Pairing your excellent writing and speaking skills with your passion for environmental sustainability you will be able to compose contract reports, own projects, and present the team’s work to the client in a compelling fashion.
- Ideally you will be working as a Communications Manager or Marketing Manager and you will have an understanding of environmental issues either through academic studies or work experience.
- An understanding and demonstrable experience designing and executing behaviour change strategies.
- Proven experience of implementing communications/marketing frameworks
- Highly proficient in the use of the Microsoft suite of apps (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Desirable
- Project management experience
- Work experience in a Local Authority
- A good understanding of the waste industry
- Interest/familiarity with graphic design
