Job Title : M&E Planner Contract Type: 12 Months Contract (Outside IR35) Location: Burghfield Security Clearance: Only candidate with current SC Clearance will be considered We are seeking an M&E Planner to join the defence sector with our client near Reading. This site-based role involves supporting the Construction Cell Lead under the supervision of the Head of Planning, with a focus on developing and maintaining a detailed delivery programme for a major defence project. Role Overview As an M&E Planner, you will be responsible for all planning and schedule management activities within the corporate Primavera P6 planning tool, ensuring the delivery programme is accurately represented and maintained within the Programme to Complete. You will act as an expert adviser, supporting planning to meet agreed standards, improving data quality for upward reporting, and working closely with Programme Planners to ensure the overall delivery is aligned. Please note, this is a construction delivery role, not a PMO role. Key Responsibilities Apply technical and construction knowledge to produce and manage the Engineering element of the Project. Interface with Supply Chain Partners and conduct regular reviews. Facilitate interactive planning reviews with stakeholder teams to minimise schedule impact. Work closely with internal project managers and the supply chain to improve logic sequences and ensure programme objectives are met. Scrutinise and challenge contractor schedules, ensuring progress interrogation is accurate. Develop What-if scenarios to explore sequence effects on schedules. Perform Critical Path Analysis, and interpret Float Erosion and critical activities. Key Requirements Proficient in Primavera P6 within an enterprise environment. Current SC (or above) clearance is essential. Experience with on-site project delivery. Strong understanding of NEC contract mechanisms, particularly the Programme for Acceptance process. Expertise in earned value analysis (schedule and performance management). Experience developing WBS and schedules from limited information. Ability to integrate Engineering delivery with M&E, General Building, and Complex Plant work packages. Strong background in Critical Path Analysis, including early/late starts and finishes. Ability to work effectively in a partnering environment with clients. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced planner with security clearance to work on a critical defence project.
