In-House Overseas Tax Manager (106355)
Base Location: UK Wide, with occasional visits to Watford

The role is within KPMG UK's Internal Partnership Tax Team who are responsible for
dealing with all tax matters relating to KPMG 'UK'. This role specifically involves reviewing
and advising on overseas tax and reporting requirements when KPMG 'UK' colleagues
travel/work overseas for business or are authorized to work overseas for personal reasons.
What will you be doing?
1. Advise the business on overseas tax issues arising from business travel whether that is a short- or long-term arrangement, and to manage the resulting overseas tax compliance.
2. Oversee the work of the assistant managers and assistants in the team.
3. Carry out assessments of potential overseas corporate tax filing position as required
and preparing emails/notes/reports to conclude on way forward including ability to:
o Assess the permanent establishment position.
4. Work with the wider Internal Partnership Tax team to address employment tax, indirect tax, and social security matters arising because of travel overseas.
5. Work with overseas advisers to ensure all overseas tax and regulatory issues are known and taken into consideration when assessing the overseas tax risk.
6. Work with specialists in various other areas to ensure all risks associated with working overseas is taken into consideration, immigration, IT, EU Posted Worker requirements etc.
7. Managing existing overseas tax compliance filing and payment requirements in several overseas countries. This includes reviewing/preparing tax calculations and tax returns for overseas tax jurisdictions and liaising with KPMG member firms for advice.
8. Overseeing/reviewing the responses prepared by the assistants and assistant managers in the team re: requests to work overseas from client facing colleagues.
9. Dealing with senior members within the firm in implementing changes to policies re: overseas travel.
10. Collaborate with team members on process improvements and best practices.
11. Input into the development of reporting technology as required to facilitate management of the policy and travel.
12. Coach and performance management of some of the assistant managers/assistants in the team.
13. Leading the training and development of any new and existing team members on the requirements for their role/task.
14. Delegating tasks to assistants and assistant managers with a view to meeting tax compliance and business deadlines. Reviewing this work and providing feedback and training to assistants and assistant managers where required.
What will you need to do it?
15. Qualified CTA or ACA
16. Experience working in a corporate or international tax role.
17. Strong understanding of overseas tax issues.
18. Excellent project management skills.
19. Sound judgement, including the ability to identify and evaluate risk issues and know when to involve others.
20. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (internally and externally) with strong oral and written communication skills.
21. Able to deal confidently with senior stakeholders.
22. Excellent team working skills, including delegation, managing teams and developing junior staff.
23. Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel & SharePoint.
24. Strong data analysis skills.
25. Respect for confidentiality.
