The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold the highest level of UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This role will be based at a site near Reading 5 days a week.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our team. This role focuses on enhancing and developing bespoke .NET / SQL Server applications for various Windows Desktop and Server platforms. The position is based near Reading, with occasional travel to secure customer and supplier sites.
As part of the Managed Applications workstream, you will work closely with the teams Architect to assess requirements, review existing software and documentation, and develop new applications. You will also produce accompanying documentation, including specifications.
•Software Development: Enhance and develop bespoke .NET / SQL Server applications using C# and VB.NET.
•Project Reporting: Regularly update the Workstream Lead and Scrum Master on progress, highlighting any schedule exceptions, issues, risks, blockers, and identifying recovery/mitigation actions.
•Compliance: Ensure all Solution Design work complies with the current Managed Applications workstream business processes and the standards, processes, and procedures defined in the current Quality Plan.
•Issue Management: Raise any delivery/performance issues with the Workstream Lead in a timely manner to allow for corrective action.
•Collaboration: Liaise with Authority representatives to derive solutions for complex cases.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
•Proficient in .NET software development, specifically with C# and VB.NET.
•Experienced in Microsoft SQL Server design and development.
•Knowledge of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).
•Familiarity with Internet Information Services (IIS).
