ALS Landscaping is an award-winning local business, covering Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, creating quality dream gardens for our clients.
We’re looking for an Operations/Sales Manager to join our team. This role combines two key responsibilities: Working with the business owner to manage the day-to-day running of the business and carrying out site surveys to assess projects. You’ll help ensure our projects are well-planned, cost-effective, and delivered to the highest standard.
If you are hardworking, reliable and trustworthy, and confident enough to lead a team with little guidance, you'll be receiving a basic salary dependant on experience of £37K pa, plus the opportunity to increase that with a performance bonus of £1000 - £2000 per month, and the use of a company vehicle.
5 Day working week, van with fuel card, large bonuses, private medical healthcare, company pension and breakfast on us each month - these are just some of the perks we offer.
Key Responsibilities:
Surveying and Quoting:
1. Visit sites to assess the work needed, take accurate measurements, and consider site conditions and client requirements.
2. Prepare clear and accurate quotes for projects, working with the design and estimating teams to ensure everything meets the client’s needs.
3. Work out the costs of materials, labour, and equipment, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to get the best prices.
4. Talk to clients to understand what they want, explain the quotes, and answer any questions they have.
Managing Operations:
1. Using current systems and processes to ensure the business is running more efficiently.
2. Make sure resources like staff, equipment, and materials are used effectively to meet deadlines and budgets.
3. Oversee the handover of projects from the planning stage to on-site work, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
Leading the Team:
1. Manage and motivate the team, creating a positive and productive working environment.
2. Provide regular feedback and support to help team members do their best work.
3. Make sure everyone has what they need to get the job done, from tools to training.
Quality and Safety:
1. Keep an eye on health and safety standards, making sure we comply with all regulations.
2. Set and maintain high standards for quality, resolving any issues that arise quickly and professionally.
Staying Competitive:
1. Keep up-to-date with new trends, materials, and pricing in the landscaping industry.
2. Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure we always get the best deals.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Experience in managing operations and/or surveying in landscaping, construction, or a similar field.
2. A good head for numbers and an eye for detail to assess projects and costs accurately.
3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
4. Excellent communication skills for working with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
5. Knowledge of landscaping materials, techniques, and industry standards.
6. Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
7. Confident using technology, including Apple iOS and other relevant software.
8. Qualifications in surveying, construction, or business management would be an advantage.
