About the Role As a SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant Support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in their academic and personal development. Teach a range of subjects to students aged 11-16. Work closely with teachers and other staff to create a supportive learning environment. Implement individualized support plans and strategies. Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promoting positive interactions. Provide one-on-one or small group support as needed. Monitor and report on student progress and well-being. Requirements of SEMH Teaching Assistant Relevant qualifications in supporting students with special educational needs (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
