Connect to your opportunity In this role you will: Be the representative of the Solution Architecture practice within a platform/domain(s)/service line(s) to deliver the right solution architecture outcomes taking into account the customer need, and the IT strategy who are designing solutions for primarily the platform/domain(s)/service line(s) under their purview Cultivate strong working partnerships with key stakeholders and customers Provide technical leadership to define, document and communicate commercially viable solutions to business opportunities ensuring all business, application, information/data, infrastructure and security considerations are defined in sufficient detail which allows implementation teams to realise the solution Ensuring all functional and non-functional requirements are met for a particular business challenge or opportunity, and any exceptions are justified, communicated and accepted with all applicable stakeholders Collaborate with the Architecture community (Enterprise, Cloud and Security) and other stakeholders (e.g. Data Privacy, Product Owners, relevant Governance bodies, etc) to ensure solutions align with business and technology strategy; or seeking and agreeing (minimal) dispensations to highlight technical debt and/or business/operational risk Support the development of the solution architecture practice through coaching of solution architects and contributing to the practice's ways of working Actively seek ways to improve the practice; IT and the business it enables to fulfils its purpose Provide line management to a team of Solution Architects supporting their career development and well-being. This will include defining and tracking training and objectives to encourage individual growth. Provide quality assurance of Solution Architecture artifacts and products, as well as those produced by third party IT suppliers; and ensure that identified risks and issues are managed appropriately that affect the definition or delivery of the right IT solution. This will be a challenging role that requires good technical knowledge, and strong leadership skills. Connect to your skills and professional experience To excel at this role, you will be highly skilled in bringing diverse groups together to build consensus around IT solutions. You can resolve conflicting stakeholder requirements on solutions through persuasion, and analytical thinking. You can distil the significant architectural, technical and security risks for a solution from a myriad of information sources; and be able to articulate the implications to senior business stakeholders with minimal technical jargon in terms of the desired business outcomes. You have good technical knowledge to troubleshoot technical issues with a range of IT stakeholders (e.g., Developers, System Administrators, Testers, Project Managers). You partner with your stakeholders to help them get the best value from the practice and IT, and where appropriate engage in respectful debate to deliver better outcomes for our customers, our clients, and people. Essential: Experience of designing, documenting, and delivering pragmatic and commercially viable solutions to new and existing business challenges; or opportunities across large projects or programs Must be able to demonstrate experience of defining the business, application, information/data, infrastructure and security considerations of a solution and how this met functional and non-functional requirements (including how any exceptions or dispensations were handled) Strong experience in design and implementing integrations between on-premises, SaaS and cloud services using a range of architectural styles Experience with Technical selection in RFP/RFP process and undertaking architectural evaluation of third-party products, platforms, services and offerings and undertaking solution quality assurance from external IT suppliers Broad knowledge across a range of IT technologies and architectural styles/patterns with at least a depth in one architecture domain; and a working knowledge within a technical domain Experience in a range of delivery methodologies from Waterfall, Incremental to Agile in a large-scale Program Delivery environment Strong systems thinker who uses logic to analyse options, and articulate trade-offs when evaluating the residual risks Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to influence at varying levels (e.g., Senior Partners, Directors, Implementers, Testers, Project managers, etc.) Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey architectural/technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience of line managing and/or managing work for small technical teams or virtual technical project teams Ability to establish and maintain effective key stakeholder relationships Experience essential in technologies of Microsoft based on premises solutions as well as Microsoft Azure Cloud stack. Migration related experience useful.
