The Duke of York’s Royal Military School seeks to appoint a Plumber to carry out Facilities Management specified services to the standard and level detailed in the Facilities Operational Policy and Service Level Agreement. As a vital member of the Facilities Management department, the successful candidate will be expected to fully support all areas of the department function with a main objective of ensuring all heating and plumbing assets are maintained to a high and legislative standard.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ensure that all Health and Safety issues / defects are dealt with in a prompt manner either by making safe or permanent rectification.
2. Deal with all reported defects, via the Facilities Helpdesk within the approved Facilities Management Service Level Agreement document.
3. Operate and maintain the site’s heating, hot and cold water and plant rooms, including operating the 2 separate Building Management Systems (Sigma and Honeywell).
4. Undertake site-wide legionella compliance testing.
5. Support and assist the School’s gas safe registered heating and plumbing engineers in installations and maintenance work as required.
6. Assist maintenance staff in other maintenance tasks as required.
7. Conduct fire alarm and visual fire extinguisher checks for the School site as required.
8. Undertake relevant training and updates as required to keep up to date with current legislation.
9. Other such reasonable duties as from time to time decided by Line Manager, Principal or SLT.
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
1. Effective communicator – good oral & written skills.
2. Proven IT skills or ECDL or equivalent.
3. Experience of heating and plumbing roles, including ACOP L8 regulations to the approved industry standard.
4. Plumbing Qualifications – 6189 NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
5. Experience of undertaking general maintenance activities.
6. Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Experience/Skills
1. Previous experience of working in a School environment.

3. An excellent team player but equally able to work alone.
4. High level of integrity.
5. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours as required (including evening and weekend work plus emergency call outs as required).
