Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mental Health / Court of Protection Legal Secretary for their dedicated Mental health team. The ability to work as part of a team is essential and they must be able to motivate themselves and be able to cope under pressure in order to meet crucial deadlines. Organisation is vital to this role so the successful secretary must be able to manage their own time effectively as well as keeping fee earner diaries up to date. They must be able to take the initiative to plan ahead and be able to identify any potential issues in advance. Client manner is extremely important so they must be friendly and approachable whilst maintaining a professional tone. This is particularly important for work within the mental health team as clients can have a wide range of mental health conditions, so excellent verbal and written communication is extremely important.
Some of the key tasks will include (but are not limited to:
1. Production of letters and other legal documents such as court bundles
2. Typing notes from digital dictation
3. Liaising with fee earners to ensure that deadlines are met and work is progressed in a timely manner
4. Managing diary entries to ensure key dates are adhered to
5. Arranging appointments on behalf of fee earners
6. Liaising with clients and third parties in order to properly progress each case and respond to queries
7. Maintaining orderly files – (files are largely electronic) – saving of emails, documents, file notes etc and appropriate naming, time recording to ensure the system is up to date
8. Keeping an accurate record of running costs and time recording
