To provide a safe environment whilst delivering excellent customer service at all times. To ensure that customers are extended a welcome to the station, kept well informed and that all areas are kept clean and well presented.
Your main responsibilities will be:
1. Ensure your personal safety and that of others, including that of visitors and contractors, at all times
2. Comply with the Rules as defined in Network Rail Group Standard, South Western Railway Employee Handbook, other regulations and Instructions, Group Standards and Legislation, undertaking periodic re-examination of competency.
3. Provide a safe, courteous and helpful service at all times.
4. Provide a safe, clean and well presented customer environment, ensuring that the tasks detailed in the cleaning schedules are maintained.
5. Undertake emergency procedures and implement evacuation procedures when required.
6. Carry out duties as directed by Duty Station Manager and/or Station Supervisor.
7. Ensure the safe and punctual dispatch of trains and ensure that performance records are maintained. Identify and report to your Duty Station Manager incidents of delays to services
8. Wear uniform (including name badge) and safety clothing as supplied, ensuring that your standard of appearance complies with the company standard and is high at all times.
9. Maintain security of the station premises during your booked time of attendance.
10. Have an understanding of ticket & restrictions relevant to your location and line of route.
11. Carry out Winter Precautions as per Local Instructions.
12. Additional tasks as specified by the local manager and Station Supervisor applicable to the role
You'll need to be:
13. Able to travel to your locations of work within 60 minutes, for all shift times.
14. Organised and efficient and able to cope with repetitive tasks under pressure at times.
15. A great communicator and can talk to anyone
16. Passionate about doing the right thing – nothing is too much trouble.
17. Competent in the ability to use technology.
18. Confidence to make regular live announcements at your station.
19. Able to distinguish colours with normal colour vision
Applicants who require a visa must have 6 months remaining at the time of their appointment.
Working pattern
You will work an average of 37 hours per week.
3-week roster, working early and late shifts only (Sunday outside the working week)
Early shifts 0600-1515
Late shifts 1415-2330
