Stockton Quality Control Laboratory is an MHRA inspected laboratory offering a comprehensive range of quality control services to NHS providers. The laboratory provides a range of pharmaceutical testing services including analytical chemistry, microbiology, clean room testing, medical gas testing and theatre testing.
We are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual into our team to support out external services provision to provide clean room testing services to our client base.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, able to work independently and meet required timescales and deadlines.
Experience working into a cleanroom is advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided in the role.
To ensure that the physical and microbiological environmental testing (clean rooms, operating theatres etc.) is carried out according to procedures and guidelines. To include:
Cleanroom testing including but not limited to: airborne microbial sampling, particle counting, DOP testing, measurement of velocities, pressures, light, humidity and noise
All testing equipment is transported to site using boxes and trolleys, used and handled according to Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments and that the environment is kept clean and uncontaminated
Ensure that all necessary equipment and materials are available to undertake the tests required
Equipment is serviced and calibrated as required. Equipment must be set up, adjusted and working correctly.
The local procedures are followed to enter a clean room or other controlled areas
· COSHH testing is carried out according to EH40.
To ensure that the test equipment minimises the impact on the clean room or clean air device by effective disinfection. Tests must be carried out meticulously and accurately to ensure that all faults and defects are identified.
Complete the necessary results sheet and reports. Sign off permit to work sheets as appropriate. Author laboratory reports for the customer in line with laboratory procedures

The post holder is responsible for undertaking the following specialties; environmental testing of clean rooms and clean air devices. Independently carry out environmental tests on new and existing specialised ventilation systems and provide advice and assistance with any issues found. A driving licence is essential to this post. Post holder is required to work on each day of the week as required by the needs of the service.
Liaise with customers regarding visits:
· Forward planning and control of site visits, whilst liaising with customers in accordance with the needs of the service
· To plan for unforeseen circumstances i.e. holidays and increasing workload, and to inform clients of unexpected delays and predicted timescales.
· Liaise with customers and the Business Manager to ensure tests are performed as required by the needs of the service. This will include weekends and evenings.
To provide advice with regard to completion of tests. To include:
· Provide summary of the results of tests to customers of the environmental testing service and other technical staff and assist in the resolution of problems as appropriate. This involves assessing all the test results in order to provide advice on the best course of action. This process will require tact and persuasive skills to ensure that user’s do not overreact or ignore problems
· Undertake remedial action as necessary and with the user’s permission to maintain the appropriate clean room conditions
· Assist with planned maintenance such as changing filters.
· Participate in specific environmental testing research work.
· Report problems and actions taken directly to the Head of External Services, External Services Quality Lead and Senior External Services Technician
Vehicles - Check and maintain the QC vehicles to ensure that they are roadworthy and report any problems or defects to the Business Manager. Complete the driver’s log after driving a trust vehicle.
To ensure that stocks of environmental testing reagents and equipment consumables are within expiry dates and available
· Reorder stocks taking into account delivery times to ensure stock is available for use.
· Minimise waste by ensuring stock levels are appropriate for the shelf life of consumables.
Assist in the preparation of environmental test procedures, guidance and reports
· Assist in the development and maintenance of procedures, test forms and details of testing regimes for each healthcare premise.
· Ensure that all the required data is available before preparing a test report for checking within the agreed time period.
· To carry out qualification tests on new or modified facilities.
· Modify test sheets as required within the laboratory quality system
· Author and check test reports as necessary
