Operational Buyer (18-month FTC)

Our client, a renowned innovator in electron microscopy, is seeking a talented and motivated Operational Buyer to join their team. The opportunity is initially an 18-month FTC; it is highly likely a permanent position is available for the right person.
About the Role:
As an Operational Buyer, you will play a crucial role in managing relationships with external suppliers. You will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end procurement process, ensuring timely and cost-effective material availability for the Cambourne Volume Manufacturing Plant and Oberkochen Plant. This position requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in supply chain management or purchasing.

The Ideal Candidate:
* Experience: Proven track record in supply chain management or purchasing, particularly with high-value materials.
* Software: Must be familiar with, and have working experience, using SAP.
* Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively leading cross-functional teams.
* Customer Focus: Strong customer-oriented mindset with the ability to build and maintain long-term supplier relationships.
* Flexibility: Willingness to roll up sleeves and personally handle critical issues during peak demand or urgent situations.
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a benefit, although not essential
Key Responsibilities:
* Order-to-Delivery Management: Manage order-to-delivery cycles, including expediting, delivery date monitoring, and proactive delay mitigation.
* Data Accuracy: Ensure accuracy of material master data and maintain vendor information in SAP.
* Supplier Performance: Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and build strong supplier relationships through regular communication.
* Price Monitoring: Monitor price variations and support forecasting processes.
* Invoice Management: Manage invoice discrepancies and ensure payment terms compliance.
* Process Improvement: Identify and implement automation opportunities in the procurement process and develop standard operating procedures.
* Collaboration: Work closely with Production Planning to optimize material availability and participate in value stream mapping and process improvement workshops.
* Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
