This post is based within the council's Anti-Poverty Service. The successful candidate will work closely with the Advice Shop to promote financial inclusion and alleviate poverty through advice and advocacy.
The role of the Development Worker will be to actively contribute to the ongoing delivery of the Community Planning Partnership's Tackling Poverty Strategy by strengthening local partnerships and coordinating links between child poverty work and other related policy initiatives.
This post will support engagement between the Local Employability Partnership (LEP) and wider child poverty work. The postholder will support the work of the LEP to promote better co-ordination between employability services and wider wrap-around support such as childcare and transport.
The post holder will work with a range of local partners to gather information, evidence, and data to ensure stakeholders better understand the causes and consequences of child poverty both nationally and in West Lothian, including offering training opportunities through multi-media platforms.
The postholder will join local and national working groups on poverty and will provide a strategic understanding and overview of the child poverty landscape in West Lothian in order to better align and integrate services for improved outcomes.
Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
