Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Brighouse, West Yorkshire (Site-based)
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum (Dependent on experience)

About the Opportunity:
Building Careers is partnering with a well-established regional contractor on a significant new build affordable housing development in Brighouse. This is a superb opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial aspects of this key project, contributing to the delivery of much-needed affordable homes within the local community.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full range of quantity surveying duties, from initial cost planning through to final account settlement. This role offers considerable autonomy and the chance to make a real impact on the project's success.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing all commercial aspects of the project from inception to completion.
Preparing accurate cost plans, budgets, and forecasts.
Procurement of subcontractors and materials, including negotiation and contract management.
Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, and payments.
Preparing and submitting valuations to the client, ensuring timely payment.
Monitoring and controlling project costs, identifying and mitigating risks.
Managing variations and change control processes.
Preparing regular cost reports and providing commercial advice to the project team.
Attending site progress meetings and liaising with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and best practice.
Mentoring and supporting junior members of the commercial team (if applicable).Essential Requirements:
A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field (e.g., Degree, RICS accredited).
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a demonstrable track record of successfully managing projects within the construction industry, ideally within residential or social housing.
A thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and contract law.
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and ideally experience with construction management software (e.g., COINS, Causeway).
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A full UK driving licence.Desirable Requirements:
Experience working on affordable housing projects or similar social infrastructure projects.
