Job overview
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is the largest acute trust in the UK, with over 25,000 staff caring for over a million patients a year. Combining 10 hospitals and community services from across Greater Manchester, we provide outstanding patient care and services.
The post-holder will coordinate the health records service, including the provision of health records to the Trust’s clinical services. The post-holder will use management information to support informed decisions to improve service provision and respond to operational demands. The post-holder must ensure performance and quality are maintained, whilst reviewing current working practices to make the service more effective and efficient by proactively anticipating issues and taking appropriate action to resolve. The post-holder must set a high standard for service quality and ensure policy and best practice standards are adhered to.
You will provide a comprehensive staff management service including rostering, workload planning, holiday and sickness management, personal development planning and staff induction, and provide a high-quality service focused on customer service for each patient and the Trust's clinical teams.
Main duties of the job
We’re moving rapidly from paper to electronic records across the MFT organisation, to help us provide better quality and continuity of care – wherever patients are treated.
A key member of this ongoing transformation, you’ll co-ordinate and deliver a high-performing health records service within 3 new core functional areas [Case note provision, Destruction and Digital], ensuring performance and quality are maintained, while seeking out new and more efficient ways of working. At the same time, you’ll supervise a Health Records Team, providing support, guidance, and training to help them achieve their full potential. You will also support our Subject Access team and Service Manager.
It is vital that our workforce is reflective of the population that we serve, so we hold an unwavering ambition to be a trusted employer for colleagues from every background. Discrimination has no place in our workplaces, so we celebrate diversity and we promote equality of opportunity. Joining an inclusive employer who values the contribution of every individual, you will find a workplace that is both friendly and supportive.
Working for our organisation
MFT is one of the largest NHS Trusts in England with a turnover of £2.6bn and is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts. We’re creating an exceptional integrated health & social care system for the 1 million patients who rely on our services every year.
Bringing together 10 hospitals & community services from across Manchester, Trafford & beyond, we champion collaborative working & transformation, encouraging our 28,000 workforce to pursue their most ambitious goals. We set standards that other Trusts seek to emulate so you’ll benefit from a scale of opportunity that is nothing short of extraordinary.
We’ve also created a digitally enabled organisation to improve clinical quality, patient & staff experience, operational effectiveness & driving research, and innovation through the introduction of Hive; our Electronic Patient Record system which launched in September 2022.
We’re proud to be a major academic Research Centre & Education provider, providing you with a robust infrastructure to encourage and facilitate high-quality research programmes. What’s more, we’re excited to be embarking on our Green Plan which sets out how MFT continues to play its part in making healthcare more sustainable.
At MFT, we create and foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, provide equal opportunities for career development that are fair, open, and transparent, protecting your health and wellbeing and shaping the future of our organisation together.
