Main duties of the job
To provide dental care for priority groups in a variety of settings.
Job responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to department and professional standards/protocols without direct supervision. Comment on department policies and propose changes to departmental working practices or procedures as necessary.
2. Access communication from the Trust and from the department via e-mail.
3. Complete FP17 forms for patients and determine which band the course of treatment falls into.
4. Organise the collection of patient charges and report any bad debtors to the Head of Dental services.
5. Provide dental care in the domiciliary setting for patients who are housebound.
6. Provide dental care in hospital under general anaesthesia for patients who cannot have their treatment provided in the clinic.
7. Support the Head of Dental Services to maintain health and safety and security within the department, reporting risks and taking appropriate action as required.
8. Participate in audit and peer review as required.
9. The post holder will be required to undertake any other duties and responsibilities within the framework of the post.

Qualifications
* Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent, with full registration with General Dental Council.
Skills & Attributes
* Ability to provide a wide range of dental care to a high standard.
* Good organisational skills.
* Ability to manage own workload.
* Basic I.T. skills
* Knowledge of professional standards.
* Ability to work as a member of a large team.
* Ability to use electronic dental patient records system.
* Knowledge of FP17s, treatment banding and patient charges.
Experience
* Experience to post VT level.
* Providing dental care for children.
* Providing dental care for people with disabilities.
* Undertaking dental care in the domiciliary setting.
* Treatment with inhalation sedation.
