The main purpose of the role is to develop and manage the Healthier Lifestyle Service which currently includes the Ealing Smoke Free Service, Inpatient Smoke Free Service, Diabetes Health and Wellness Coaching, Health Promotion for Vaccinations and Tuberculosis. There are also additional short-term projects which are part of the portfolio. The service is committed to promoting physical health across a variety of settings and reducing health inequalities in the community and among West London NHS Trust service users. The role will lead an ambitious service development plan to expand the service and the areas covered in line with the NHS Long Term Plan.
The role is key in leading and developing the smoke-free strategy across West London NHS Trust, working as an autonomous, advanced practitioner and effectively rolling out smoking cessation programmes within the Trust and community.
Main duties of the job
* Leading on the development and implementation of stop smoking and other healthier lifestyle services pathways within the Trust and community, providing highly specialist advice to the strategic development and implementation, in line with national targets, quality and performance targets.
* Interpreting national, regional and local policies relevant to the service, reviewing clinical guidelines and evidence-based methods of offering smoking cessation support for target groups and the general population.
* Ensuring that patients and their families are fully informed of services and their feedback is regularly assessed.
* Upskilling other healthcare professionals in inpatient and community settings on the above outlined project.
* To work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, holding self and colleagues to account appropriately and demonstrating personal commitment to integrated working.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Educated to Master’s level in Psychology or relevant subject or equivalent level Qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in a specialist area.
* Master’s in Health Psychology.
* NCSCT certification.
Experience
* Experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships between a variety of stakeholders.
* Experience of drafting briefing papers.
* Experience of developing and delivering training.
* Experience of effective collaboration with voluntary sector organizations and communities.
* Experience of managing risks and reporting.
* Experience of using evidence or theory to develop behaviour-change interventions in different populations.
