About The Role We’re seeking a Cost Manager who will use their expertise to: • Manage and deliver cost management and cost reporting activities, processes and systems on complex programmes and projects. • Provide the Senior Management Team with a total cost overview of programmes and individual projects through analysis and interpretation of project information. • Ensure that all approved projects are managed in accordance with the TfL Cost Management Procedure. • Support the delivery of accurate actual costs, cost of work done and forecasts, reflect the project programme, within the specified forecasting tolerances. • Manage and orchestrate all the internal and external commercial stakeholder parties to develop and maintain cost control of such programmes and projects. • Ensure that a Project Cost Control System is implemented and maintained. • Liaise and building good working relationships with both project and commercial managers, whilst working closely with the finance manager. Skills, Knowledge & Experience Skills: • Advanced level of numeracy and data analysis skills. (Essential) • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people within and outside the organisation. Influence people across the organisation and outside. (Essential) • Development and implementation of financial management and project control plans and approaches that support the management of the allocated projects or cost centre. (Essential) Knowledge: • Expert in cost management activities and be able to apply them on complex projects and programmes. (Essential) • Demonstrably proficient in commercial management and commercial compliance (Desired) • Familiar with related project controls, planning and programme management, project management, business management processes, (Desired) • Educated to degree level, or equivalent relevant experience (Desired) • Hold a recognised commercial or cost management qualification and/or is a member a relevant professional body or is qualified by recognised length of service delivering a cost management role. (Desired) • Hold a higher educational qualification in an Engineering/Cost discipline or equivalent or recognised length of service. (Desired) Experience: • Experienced in project cost management systems and controls within the construction/Engineering Industry.
