Shift Manager
Ash Manor, Wrexham
As Shift Manager you will be a key member of the site management team and take primary responsibility for driving forward best in class manufacturing performance. As part of the site management team, you will also contribute to the overall management of the business unit and the drive for continuous operational improvement.
Your working pattern will be based on a two-week rotating shift pattern; Monday to Friday 6 am – 2 pm, Monday to Friday 2 pm – 10 pm.
The Role:
* To deliver best in class standards and performance in all aspects of packing re unit cost, quality, yield/wastage, customer service, compliance and budget objectives.
* To deliver first class cheese and associated product within specification & to customer requirements and set and maintain effective hygiene controls. Monitor product quality through the packing lines to identify, address and sort any issues.
* Implement a structured approach to CI activities. Create an improvement agenda with ownership accepted and practiced across the workforce, benchmark against best in class, investigate new methods and technologies.
* Optimise plant performance by ensuring all plant and equipment is properly operated, maintained and cleaned to minimise downtime.
* Lead a zero-tolerance approach to having a tidy, safe and clean working environment.
* Support despatch and logistics to meet customer requirements and optimise performance.
* Develop and manage the team to build a trained and flexible workforce.
* Develop and maintain the necessary systems, procedures, training and working practices to deliver best practice and meet the requirements of site management, group policies, accreditation bodies, customer requirements and statutory compliance.
The Person:
* Minimum of 3 years' experience of operating at a similar level in a manufacturing environment.
* Possess a strong technical skill set and have a track record of delivery against quality and safety standards.
* Proven experience of leading and managing a team in a busy environment.
* Proved track record of developing a lean culture and delivering process improvements ie 5S, Kaizen.
* Proven experience with GMP, statutory compliance and accreditation bodies eg BRC.
* Clearly demonstrate an ability to communicate to and work with to a range of internal and external stakeholders professionally and effectively.
* Highly organised with an excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Competent with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
* 3 years' experience of operating at a similar level in food manufacturing/FMCG environment.
* Degree in a relevant subject eg. Business, Management, Operations.
