We are seeking two Team Leaders and a Property lawyer to join our friendly, supportive, and dynamic Legal team supporting Stratford on Avon and Warwick District Councils.
We are seeking enthusiastic, adaptable, and self-motivated lawyers for these roles, following the retirement and promotion of the previous postholders. For the Planning and Regulatory role, you will have experience of at least one area of planning or regulatory work (e.g., licensing, housing, civil and criminal litigation). For the Property Team Leader role, you will have experience in commercial property work, including land assembly for regeneration, development, or project purposes, as well as an awareness of the wider issues, such as best value and subsidy control. For the Property lawyer role, you will have experience in commercial property work.
You will work in a supportive environment having your own varied caseload of complex legal work advising senior officers and councillors on high-profile cases across both local authorities. The Team Leaders will be an integral part of the Legal Team working with the Legal Services Manager and the Team Leader (Commercial) to shape the direction of the Legal Team. You will also lead and motivate an excellent team of lawyers.
It is an exciting time to join an expanding, progressive Legal Team that is friendly and supportive with a strong team ethic. We support two ambitious local authorities involved in a range of exciting projects. You will be directly involved in varied and high-quality legal work and make a positive difference to our communities.
Local government experience and management experience is desirable but not essential provided you have an interest and commitment to local government work and to managing and developing teams. We will accept applications from qualified solicitors, barristers, and fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives.
We are based in the centre of historic and vibrant Stratford upon Avon and we offer flexible, agile working arrangements including home working.
Applications will close on 18 November at midnight.
Interviews will be held in the week commencing 25 November.
In addition to an open and friendly environment, you’ll enjoy an excellent benefits package including a minimum of 25 days’ annual leave, hybrid working, flexi-time scheme, Health Cash Plan Scheme and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
The Council is committed to equality of opportunity and aims to create a welcoming, inclusive workplace where we are all able to bring our whole selves to work and perform at our best.
