What skills and experience we're looking for
HLTAs are expected to work effectively with individual pupils, small groups and whole classes to deliver agreed lessons and learning objectives or intervention programmes. You will take the role of the ‘teacher’ in this respect, although the overall responsibility for the class’s quality of teaching and learning will remain with the class teacher and Senior LeadershipTeam.
The candidate should have a passion and interest in Dance and the Performing Arts.
Key duties and responsibilities may include:-
• Demonstrate an informed and efficient approach to teaching and learning by adopting relevant strategies to support the work of the teacher and increase achievement of all pupils including, where appropriate, those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
• Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities
• Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school’s policy and procedures
• Use effective questioning to ensure learning moves on for different groups of pupils
• Provide pastoral care and support for pupils to learn and develop curiosity
• Support the development of children's basic skills, including physical coordination, speech and communication
• Work under the direction of the Class Teachers to lead learning both indoors and outdoors

Commitment to safeguarding
Everyone is responsible for ensuring and maintaining the high standards of pupil behaviour, safety and welfare that we have worked so hard to achieve. Overall responsibility for child protection in our school is led by our Headteacher, Rachael Foster who is a trained/experienced Designated Safeguarding Leader (DSL). Kristen Weiss and Janey Read are also qualified and are our Deputy Safeguarding Leaders. There are procedures in place to make a referral to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) if a person in regulated activity has been dismissed /removed due to child protection concerns, or would have been had they not resigned.
