I am working in partnership with a Specialist School in York who are seeking additional staff to join their welcoming team. We are looking for dedicated individuals to support their pupils with Multiple Learning Difficulties and Autism. These positions are initially short-term until the end of the Autumn Term, with the possibility of a permanent contract.
The school caters for children aged between 11-18 years old with a range of special educational needs including Moderate, Severe and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Physical Disabilities, and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. The school prides itself on creating a safe, happy, and healthy learning environment where pupils can thrive. We celebrate our pupils' achievements and provide them with the support, guidance, and challenges to progress towards adulthood.
In this role, you will provide support to pupils in class and during breaks/lunchtime. Some 1:1 support may be required, but the primary responsibility is to provide general support. Personal care assistance may also be needed for some pupils.
We welcome a diverse range of applicants for these positions, including those with experience as an SEN support assistant, graduates seeking experience in specialist provision, and individuals with previous experience as a support/care worker. While prior experience supporting individuals with additional needs is desirable, it is not essential for this role.
