Mechanical & HVAC Design Engineer
Meridian are working with a well-established MEP Contractor in the North-West who are specialists in commercial office projects. On the back of record-breaking years, they are once again looking to grow their Mechanical and HVAC team. They are therefore looking for a Design Engineer to sit above their CAD Designers to continue growing their business within the North-West.

7. Involvement with the full M&E process to develop your skills and ensure effective project delivery, including pre-contract and post-contract agreements, and the commissioning process

Requirements for the role:
1. Relevant Engineering degree
2. Relevant experience within MEP and HVAC systems, with a thorough understanding of HVAC systems
3. Proficiency with IT systems and Microsoft office
4. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate both within your own team as well as with external customers and clients
5. Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
6. Strong teamworking skills, with both reporting progress to your senior management but also keeping effective communications with engineers on site
Job duties will include (but are not exclusive to):
1. Pre-Contract: Prepare M&E tender documents as and when necessary
2. Undertake technical review of clients’ documentation and specifications, producing commentary and guidance on the risks and complications posed.
3. Identify Value Engineering Options
4. Attend client site visits and interviews
5. Undertake analysis of sub-contractor proposals, make recommendations regarding contractor selection.
6. Offer valuable input on procurement schedules
7. Offer insight on installation programmes to streamline the process
8. Manage and review the M&E design process
9. Manage and review the validation process
10. Post Contract: Review final package scope and cost for all MEP works.
11. Assist with final selection of supply chain partners
12. Assist in the suitable procurement of equipment and services from specialist sub-contractors / consultants.
13. Improve our buying (price and service levels) process
14. Comment on MEP sub-contractor’s financial variations and final account
15. Manage new power, gas, water and telecoms services to site (if applicable)
16. Review & Assist the Technical Design - MEP element of online document control systems
17. Attend client progress meetings
18. Assist the production of MEP progress reports for within the PM’s report
19. Monitor MEP progress on site
20. Manage MEP close out
21. Commissioning: Manage the commissioning process – develop a schedule of what’s expected
22. Comment on commissioning programmes
23. Facilitate MEP client training
