Summary: The main goal of the Shipping Manager is to maintain shipping flow to meet QAP goals and customer demands. The Shipping manager will work closely with management and team to ensure quality and developing future QAP leaders. A successful Shipping manager will be able to communicate across multiple departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Continuously strive to drive, improve, and monitor QAP companywide KPI’s: safety (6s), people, quality, cost of production, delivery and inventory, continuous improvement, finance/cash and commercial.
* Observe customer orders, route and map out loading of loads according to customer locations.
* Research and analyze daily/weekly/monthly reports. Research root of shipping errors. Provide appropriate coaching, direction corrective action to resolve issues.
* Ensures employee and departmental compliance with all QAP policies, procedures, values, and mission.
* Ensure that employee conduct is free from any form of harassment (sexual, racial, religious, etc.). Immediately reporting violations to supervisor or Human Resource Manager.
* Administer and lead 8D problem solving process.
* Administer and lead standardized work list process.
* Ensure that all employees actively participate in and complete appropriate training (on the job, classroom, or otherwise). Ensure all training is evaluated and proper documentation is maintained.
* Maintain daily two-way communication with team. Provide updated information on current business status.
* Evaluate management and overall department performance through formal and informal performance appraisals. Provide continuous coaching to engage and motivate team.
* Assign appropriate corrective actions when needed to maintain QAP mission and values.
* Provide last line of defense for quality. Train team to identify and maintain QAP quality standards.
* Maintains complete security and confidentiality of company and employee information.
* Investigates employee concerns promptly and thoroughly creating an environment of trust.
* Facilitate communication between shipping and production departments on status of product fulfillment.
* Communicate and work cross-functionally with Production, Shipping, Sales and Customer Service to ensure alignment with our customer driven strategy and direction.
* Attend and actively participate in all op’s meetings.
* Manage the warehouse to ensure organization.
* Create a culture of positive momentum by holding roadblock meetings. Explore shipping opportunities by utilizing employee input.
* Enforce and support QAP’s 6’s program.
* Complete all required paperwork. Ensure documentation is shared with proper departments.
* Verify and process employee payroll, ensuring compliance with all federal regulations.
* Ability to maintain regular attendance at QAP facility.
* Enforces safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly. Issues corrective action when needed.
* Any additional task assigned by management.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferably with metals. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language/Reasoning Ability/Mathematical Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as excel, and crystal reports. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and are important, also the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistics. Possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Ability to earn and retain a Hilo License.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, forklifts and pallets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Hearing protection is required in all production areas of the plant. The employee is regularly exposed to navigating pedestrian traffic while operating a Hilo. The employee is occasionally exposed to hot, cold and rainy weather conditions. We also always require steel toed shoes and protective eyewear in the plant.
