The Role
Ventia, in collaboration with the Australian Defence Force, is on the lookout for an enthusiastic Chef who is passionate about delivering exceptional food and outstanding customer service. Join our vibrant team and support daily kitchen operations. You’ll be tasked with crafting exceptional meals and catering for events, all while upholding the highest culinary standards.
This casual position is based at the RAAF Base Edinburgh, South Australia. The kitchen operates daily from approximately 5:00am to 8:30pm, with VIP events extending until around 10:00pm. Successful candidates will also have the chance to work at other Defence locations for camps, including Hampstead Barracks and Cultana, Port Augusta.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
1. Supporting the Head Chef with daily mess operations and food service.
2. Deliver exceptional customer experiences, in line with contract expectations.
3. Support and participate in the implementation and management of Ventia’s Food Safety Program.
4. Clean, sanitise and maintain the equipment and premises.
5. Support stock management initiatives, including stock rotation and restocking consumables.
Skills & Experience
1. Australian recognised Commercial Cookery qualification (Cert III or higher). (Required)
2. Sound knowledge of Food Safety Standards, relevant legislation and statutory obligations.
3. Previous experience in a similar commercial hospitality role.
4. Ability to work autonomously, as well as in a team.
5. Current Australian Drivers Licence. (Required)
Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement, the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
