About the Role:
As a Tender Engineer, you will play a critical role in the preparation and submission of tenders for renewable energy projects. Your focus will be on electrical balance of plant (EBoP) systems, civil engineering, and groundworks. In this position, you will analyze project requirements, develop cost-effective proposals, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create high-quality submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Take the lead in preparing tenders for EBoP, civil engineering, and groundworks for renewable energy projects
* Analise project specifications, drawings, and technical documents to assess scope, risks, and costs
* Work closely with internal estimators to produce accurate cost estimates for electrical systems, substations, and civil works
* Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and ensure compliance with project requirements
* Identify risks and opportunities within tender documents and recommend strategies to optimise bid competitiveness
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements in all submissions
* Collaborate with clients, project managers, and engineering teams to refine bids and clarify technical aspects
* Prepare high-quality technical and commercial proposals, ensuring timely submission
* Provide support in post-tender negotiations and contract finalisation
The Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will bring:
* A degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering (or a related field)
* At least 5 years of experience in tendering, estimating, or bid engineering within electrical infrastructure, renewable energy, or power transmission & distribution sectors
* Strong technical knowledge of EBoP systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, and cabling
* Solid understanding of civil engineering aspects related to electrical infrastructure (foundations, site preparation, drainage)
* Familiarity with industry standards and local grid regulations (e.g., IEC, IEEE, BS)
* Proficiency in estimating software, Excel, or other relevant tools
* Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare and present bids clearly
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
Desirable Qualifications:
* Experience in tendering for renewable energy or infrastructure projects
* Familiarity with contract frameworks (e.g., NEC, FIDIC, or JCT)
* Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it)
