Job Title: Behaviour Mentor / Learning Coach
Contract Type: Full time
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a critical role in shaping students. Your primary focus will be on providing targeted support to students facing behavioural challenges, ensuring they have the necessary tools and guidance to succeed academically and personally. Through mentorship and intervention, you will contribute to the creation of a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities of a Behaviour Mentor:
1. Behavioural Support: Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with behavioural challenges, implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
2. Crisis Intervention: Manage and de-escalate behavioural incidents, working collaboratively with teaching staff and other support professionals to ensure a safe learning environment.
3. Individualised Plans: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to develop and implement individualized behaviour plans, monitoring and adjusting these plans as needed.
4. Mentoring and Coaching: Offer mentorship and guidance to students, helping them develop social skills, emotional resilience, and effective conflict resolution strategies.
5. Collaboration: Work closely with teaching staff, school psychologists, and external professionals to create a holistic support system for students with behavioural challenges.
6. Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and report on the progress of students, providing valuable insights to inform ongoing support strategies.
Qualifications of a Behaviour Coach Teaching Assistant:
1. Experience: Proven experience in a similar role, demonstrating a deep understanding of behavioural support strategies and crisis intervention or willingness to learn.
2. Empathy and Patience: Possess a compassionate and patient demeanor, understanding the unique challenges students may face.
3. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with teaching staff, students, and parents.
4. Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and professionals.
