Folkestone Eye Centre is an NHS community-based outpatient clinic, bringing expert eye care closer to patients' homes.
The service is a joint venture owned and run by the partnership of Newton Place Surgery and a group of local expert Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeons.
The service is located at our newly renovated premises within Basepoint in Folkestone. We have the most up-to-date diagnostic and surgical equipment on site, including a state-of-the-art cataract surgery suite. We have recently expanded into running dermatology outpatient clinics and nurse-led biopsy lists.
We are looking for a full-time ophthalmology co-ordinator for our clinic. As a person, you should be passionate about giving great healthcare, enthusiastic to learn, have great organisational skills, and have an empathetic nature. The hours for this post are 37.5 per week, based on a rolling rota shared between the team. Shifts are between the hours of 0800-1800 due to clinics. Weekend working is essential for this post.

Main duties of the job
As an ophthalmology coordinator, you will be undertaking the following:
* Ensuring that patients are seen in the right clinic, first time.
* Contacting patients through the use of multiple media formats.
* Work closely with colleagues to ensure that clinics are well organised and providing the correct needs for the patients.
* Coordinate AMD referrals into the service, ensuring that they are booked at the right time.
* Coordinating HCQ clinics.
* Ensuring that all patients are correctly booked.
* Dealing with any enquiries from patients regarding their appointments.
* Understanding the needs of the service and working with clinicians to understand their needs and profiles, as well as future developments in that specialty.
* Assisting with feedback forms into the service for all services.
* Reception cover.
* Assisting the Service Manager with monthly invoices.

Folkestone Eye Centre is a small and friendly team. We have two other members of admin, one of whom is full-time and the other part-time. There is an overall Service Lead who is the manager of the clinic.
The atmosphere at Folkestone Eye Centre is very warm and welcoming. Our newly renovated premises provide a pleasant working environment. We all have an excellent work ethic and support each other daily.
We work alongside our team of Consultant Ophthalmologists who are very supportive and responsive to any queries. The visiting dermatology team is also very friendly and helpful.

Job responsibilities
As a receptionist and administrator for Folkestone Eye Centre, you will be an important part of the service. We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, professional, empathetic, and an excellent team player. You will also need excellent organisational and time-management skills.
We are in partnership with Newton Place Surgery and five ophthalmologists who are on rotation at Folkestone Eye Centre. We also have a regular dermatology GPSWI's. We offer cataract surgery, general ophthalmology clinics, wet macular degeneration clinics, HCQ clinics, minor operations, general dermatology clinics, and nurse-led biopsy clinics.
* Ensuring that patients are seen in the right clinic, first time.
* Contacting patients through the use of multiple media formats.
* Ensuring clinics are booked as per clinical vetting, particularly AMD.
* Assisting with stock levels for AMD, including high-cost medications.
* Assisting the Service Manager with ordering stock and maintaining good stock control.
* Technician rota creation for weekend clinics.
* Assisting the Service Manager with monthly invoices.
* Covering reception when needed.
* Ensuring that all patients are correctly booked.
* Dealing with any enquiries from patients regarding their appointments.
* Understanding the needs of the service and working with clinicians to understand their needs and profiles, as well as future developments in that specialty.

Experience
* Experience of working within administration.
* Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients.

Qualifications
* A good standard of English and Maths is required for this role. The candidate should have a grade "C" or level 4 in both English and Maths at GCSE level.
