About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Rail team in Swindon or Exeter .
The role involves working on various frameworks for Network Rail including concrete repairs, drainage works, ground stabilisation, track works and structural changes where you'll deliver complex work that really matters to our business and become involved in some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the industry.
The role offers hybrid working and flexible working requests are also available as well as the option to also work part time
What you'll be doing
The successful candidate will:
* Manage the Contract requirements, including applications for payment, early warnings, cost of work done (COWD) and average fixed cost (AFC) submissions, and anything stipulated in the contract;
* Manage the internal Balfour Beatty's Group Minimum Commercial Expectations;
* Manage the day to day external stakeholders, including the Client Network Rail;
* Review complex contract programmes such as time-location;
* Own and submit preparation of delay and disruption programmes with assistance from the project team;
* Manage Subcontracts; this includes activities, measure and respond appropriately as stipulated within each Subcontract;
* Analyse rates & prices, agreement of variations and or compensation events as required;
* Prepare, submit and negotiate claims when required;
* Prepare internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will have the following qualities/experience:
* A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or experience equivalent);
* Ability to effectively communicate at all levels;
* Strong business and finance acumen;
* Sharp customer focus and effective management with stakeholders;
* Experience of leading a diverse team;
* Be a team player and role model to others:
* Strong achievement focus towards organisational aims & objectives;
* Identify with the needs of the customer;
* Recognise opportunities & threats.
