Commercial Markets Specialist Here's what you'll be doing Short Term Trading at E.ON Energy Markets is responsible for trading in commodity and ancillary markets close to delivery. We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Markets Specialist to create value from flexibility. The GB power system is increasingly using flexibility to balance supply and demand, especially with intermittent sources like wind and solar. Our flexible portfolio includes customer sources of flexibility, large customer batteries, and E.ON's own grid scale battery in Uskmouth, Wales. As part of the Short Term Trading team in Coventry, you will work with market experts to offer flexibility to external markets and create value for E.ON and its customers. You will set up processes for trading and activating flexibility, develop strategies, and work with trading colleagues to understand external markets and determine pricing and trading approaches. You will also provide market expertise for flexibility product and system development. This role offers a mix of regular commercially focused activities and longer-term development and project work. As flexibility markets evolve, there will be opportunities for detailed analysis to enhance your understanding of market trends and insights. What we need from you A curious mind with an ability to learn new topics quickly. Highly numerate with a strong commercial focus A strong attention to detail, whilst also being able to understand the bigger picture Strong analytical and modelling skills A confident communicator who can adjust their approach according to the audience An ability to work collaboratively with others, whilst also taking ownership for own decision making Development in role: Understanding of the short-term energy markets and how to create value from them Detailed involvement in scoping and designing new products, and outlining requirements to technical developers to implement Entrepreneurial thinking and applying this to short timescale decision making, often with near immediate results.
