Our Pricing team is a team that owns and delivers the pricing strategy for British Gas Services Products which include 4 main areas: Protection (Insurance for Boilers, Central Heating, Plumbing & Drains, Home Electrics, Kitchen Appliances etc.), Installation of new Boilers & appliances, Home Upgrades, and On-Demand one-off repairs & services.
This role is a Pricing Manager position within the Protection area - dealing mainly with Insurance contracts for UK homes, writing almost £1bn in annual Gross Written Premiums, across c. 3m customers.
The team consists of a mix of actuaries, data scientists, analytical professionals, systems & delivery experts.
About the role
In your role you will have some of the following accountabilities:
* Evaluate & understand pricing requirements and assess risks using actuarial techniques.
* Drive pricing coherence and compliance across the portfolio.
* Analyze financial impacts of actions like early terminations and cross-selling.
* Resolve cross-portfolio pricing issues and secure approval for price changes.
* Monitor competitiveness and profitability of product prices.
* Gather, clean, and analyze data to identify trends and variances.
* Develop and refine product development tools based on pricing frameworks.
* Collaborate with other functions to improve information management tools.
* Draft and present pricing papers for committee approval.
* Develop & nurture pricing strategies to meet customer needs and ensure profitability.
* Design, implement, and maintain pricing infrastructures.
* Evaluate and modify pricing strategies as needed.
* Provide reporting and documentation of pricing structures and handle internal pricing inquiries.
Here's what we're looking for
You will have a genuine interest in insurance/retail pricing and analytical techniques and have pricing experience from an insurance environment. Highly numerate, you will have the potential to develop a strong technical skill-set. You'll represent our one team behaviours and be able to work accurately and reliably to sometimes tight deadlines. You'll need enthusiasm, a growth mindset, resilience and good interpersonal skills for collaborating. The ability to communicate pricing insights and recommendations in clear and simple terms is essential.
You will have a numerate qualification (STEM) and understand analytical techniques. Some knowledge of SQL & Python would be advantageous. The ability to travel to Windsor on a monthly basis is required.
