About the Role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work alongside class teachers and SEN professionals to support pupils with additional needs in both one-to-one and small group settings. Your role will focus on helping students access the curriculum, develop key skills, and build confidence in a safe and nurturing environment. Job Responsibilities: Provide individualised support to students with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH. Support the class teacher in adapting lessons and activities to ensure accessibility for all learners. Use a range of strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation. Help implement and monitor Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning programmes. Foster a caring and respectful atmosphere that promotes pupil independence and engagement. Monitor and report pupil progress and well-being to teaching and SEN staff. Collaborate with other professionals, including therapists, parents, and external agencies. Job Requirements: Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is highly desirable. A proactive, empathetic, and calm demeanour, with the ability to build rapport quickly. Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices. Good communication and organisational skills. Ability to work as part of a collaborative team, following school policies and SEN guidance. Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support are advantageous. Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD, etc. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
